Надин использует ряд полезных слов и словосочетаний о путешествиях. С некоторыми из них стоит ознакомиться подробнее:
- To hike — путешествовать пешком, совершать туристический поход.
Преимущество этого слова в том, что оно отлично подойдет как для описания полноценных турпоходов с палатками (camping), рассчитанных на несколько дней, так и для пеших экскурсий внутри городов и длительных прогулок на природе. Люди отправляются в такие походы по специально проложенным тропам (man-made trails). Маршруты, как правило, подходят людям с любым уровнем подготовки.
Неплохо знать и синонимичные этому глаголу варианты:
- to trek — преодолевать большое расстояние пешком, совершать поход, который требует большой физической подготовки и выносливости (physical ability and endurance);
- to backpack — участвовать в туристическом походе, колесить по свету с рюкзаком (образовано от существительного a backpack — рюкзак);
- to wander /ˈwɒndər/ — бродить, гулять, странствовать (от него же образовано слово a wanderer /ˈwɒn.dər.ər/ — путник, странник, а также стоит отметить заимствованное из немецкого языка слово wanderlust /ˈwɒn.də.lʌst/ — страсть к путешествиям);
- to ramble — гулять, бродить ради удовольствия;
- to stroll — прогуливаться, бродить;
- to vagabond /ˈvæɡ.ə.bɒnd/ — кочевать, скитаться, бродяжничать (часто это же слово выступает в роли прилагательного и существительного).
- A sight — достопримечательность.
Это слово крайне актуально: оказавшись в новом месте, вы наверняка заинтересуетесь известными памятниками и зданиями. Они называются sights, однако вы можете использовать и другие варианты с тем же значением, например:
- a landmark;
- an attraction;
- a place of interest.
А если какое-то место стало для вас настоящим открытием, своего рода вишенкой на торте, смело именуйте его a gem /dʒem/ (жемчужина) или даже а hidden gem (тайное сокровище, скрытая жемчужина).
- Accommodation — жилье (или проживание).
Какой бы вид путешествия вы ни выбрали, вам обязательно придется где-то останавливаться на ночь (to spend overnight). Надин упоминает хостелы (hostels), ведь это удобно и дешево. Мы же дадим вам еще несколько доступных вариантов:
- a guesthouse — гостевой дом (гестхаус);
- a B&B (bed and breakfast) — отель типа «постель и завтрак»;
- a tent — палатка.
